White-grade HPMC and HEC with ash ≤3% and brightness ≥90% are essential for white and light-colored grout formulations to prevent grey discoloration of the joint.
Application
- Standard wall tile grout (joint width 2–5 mm): HPMC at 0.15–0.25% + RDP at 1.5–2.5% delivers non-sag consistency, easy floating, and ≥0.5 N/mm² compressive strength at 28 days per EN 13888 CG2 class.
- Wide joint filler (joint width 5–20 mm): Higher-viscosity HPMC (80,000–100,000 mPa·s) at 0.25–0.35% prevents joint concavity and cracking in wide joints on large-format or natural stone installations.
- Floor tile grout (high-traffic): RDP at 3–4% improves abrasion resistance and reduces staining on horizontal surfaces exposed to foot traffic, wheels, and cleaning chemicals.
- Swimming pool and wet area grout: Flexible grout using RDP at 3–4% + HPMC at 0.2–0.3% accommodates thermal cycling and intermittent wet-dry cycling without joint cracking or hollow-sounding areas.
- Natural stone and marble grouting: White-grade, low-ash HEC or HPMC at 0.10–0.20% avoids contamination of white, cream, or translucent stone surfaces with grey cement residue.
- Mosaic tile and glass tile grouting: Low-viscosity HEC (10,000–20,000 mPa·s) at 0.05–0.15% provides the thin, fluid consistency needed to fill narrow joints (0.5–2 mm) in mosaic sheets without pulling tiles from the mesh backing.
