Application scenarios of building material grade hydroxyethyl methylcellulose

1. External wall insulation system
Building material grade hydroxyethyl methylcellulose is a key additive for thermal insulation mortar. It forms a uniform bonding film to enhance the adhesion between mortar and substrate and reduce the risk of hollowing and falling off. Its water retention performance ensures that cement is fully hydrated and increases the compressive strength by about 15%. In special climates, the high viscosity of building material grade hydroxyethyl methylcellulose can maintain the stability of mortar and reduce stress cracking caused by temperature changes.

2. Plastering and masonry mortar
Building material grade hydroxyethyl methylcellulose can delay the evaporation of water, keep the mortar moist on the porous substrate for 4-6 hours, reduce plastic shrinkage cracks, and is suitable for gypsum-based plastering, with a 60% increase in surface smoothness. The mortar with the addition of HEMC has improved fluidity, reduced smearing resistance by 30%, and reduced physical exertion of workers, making it suitable for mechanical spraying construction.

3. Tile bonding and caulking
HEMC's high water retention and anti-slip properties ensure that tiles are firmly bonded and reduce hollowing. Its viscosity stability adapts to complex construction environments. Adding HEMC to the caulking agent forms a dense joint through lubricity and shrinkage resistance, preventing water vapor penetration and protecting the substrate from corrosion.
