Product Overview
HEC is produced by reacting alkali cellulose with ethylene oxide, introducing hydroxyethyl groups along the cellulose backbone. The degree of molar substitution (MS) and molecular weight determine the viscosity grade and dissolution behavior of the final product.
Our EASONZELL™ HEC series offers three application-focused product lines: Water-Based Coatings grade, Oil Drilling grade, and Daily Chemical grade. Each line is optimized for the specific rheological demands, purity requirements, and processing conditions of its target industry.
HEC dissolves readily in both hot and cold water, forming clear, pseudoplastic solutions. It is compatible with a wide range of salts, surfactants, and co-solvents, making it exceptionally versatile in complex multi-component formulations.

- Water-Based Coatings: Provides controlled viscosity, anti-sagging, improved leveling, and film homogeneity in interior and exterior paints.
- Oil Field Drilling: Functions as a viscosifier and fluid-loss reducer in water-based drilling muds, protecting wellbore integrity.
- Personal Care & Cosmetics: Used in shampoos, body washes, skin creams, and gels to deliver smooth texture and stable rheology.
- Adhesives & Sealants: Improves open time and workability in water-based adhesive systems.
- Paper & Textile: Applied as a surface sizing and finishing agent to improve strength and printability.
Recommended usage level: 0.2–2.0% in coatings; 0.1–1.0% in personal care; 0.5–3.0% in drilling fluids (weight on water). Always check compatibility in your specific formulation system before scaling up.
