Product Overview
EasonZell™ HPS is produced by reacting natural starch with propylene oxide, introducing hydroxypropyl groups that render the starch cold-water soluble and improve its hydrophilicity. The resulting product integrates smoothly into aqueous mortar systems, contributing to rheological body, lubricity, and extended workability without the full cost burden of pure cellulose ether.
HPS is most widely used as a partial replacement for HPMC in putty powder and wall filler formulations, typically at a ratio of 1:3 to 1:5 (HPS:HPMC). This blend strategy maintains performance while significantly reducing formulation cost. Our HPS grades are characterized by controlled substitution degree and particle size to ensure reliable performance in both manual and automated mixing environments.

Application
EasonZell™ HPS finds application in the following areas:
- Interior wall putty powder — primary use as a co-thickener with HPMC, contributing to smooth spreadability and good surface finish.
- Exterior wall putty — used at moderate dosage to maintain workability without compromising weather resistance.
- Gypsum-based products — acts as a lubricant and rheology modifier alongside cellulose ether in joint compounds and skim coat.
- Cementitious self-leveling underlayments — low-viscosity grades provide flow improvement.
Usage notes: HPS should not be used as a sole thickener; always blend with HPMC or HEMC for reliable water retention. Avoid storage in humid conditions as starch is hygroscopic and may cake if moisture exceeds 14%.
